The comet has a 6.5 year commute around the Sun from just beyond the orbit of Jupiter at its furthest, to between the orbits of Earth and Mars at it closest. The comet is now 265 000 000 km from Earth and 186 000 000 km from the Sun. Its speed is 34.22 km/s.
